Why Don’t I get bonus points when I buy an HGVC Resale?
Hilton Grand Vacations Club is one of the most popular timeshare resale brands on the market today. Some timeshare developers offer extra benefits with your purchase of an ownership interest directly from the developer at a presentation. So why is it that you don’t get bonus points when you buy an HGVC resale?
Brand vs. Second-hand
Hilton Grand Vacations Club offers bonus points to buyers who purchase directly from the Club. Unfortunately, this perk is not extended to the resale market. As with any company and brand, the goal is to sell their product for retail prices. Although resale interest owners still pay their yearly maintenance dues and additional fees, selling their product themselves benefits them more so financially. It makes perfect sense from a business standpoint. Bonus points are given away as a perk or incentive to potential buyers as part of their sales and marketing. Common practice for timeshares was to give away free trips and fabulous prizes for attending their presentations but that practice seems to be fading out in lieu of post-purchase incentives. These promotions and ‘added’ giveaways are already worked into the cost of the retail value.
Resale
Your timeshare resale broker may not be able to offer Hilton bonus points with your purchase but the savings that you will receive just by simply buying resale, can make up the difference. Buying your ownership interest on the resale market can save you 20-80% off retail pricing. That being said, you may be able to find a marketing promotion or two from your resale broker as well, which means more savings for you. If you find yourself wanting to purchase a Hilton ownership, be sure to check out resale and decide which is going to be the best purchase for you and your family.
